Report: PlayStation 3 – hacked

Sony’s game console, whose massive security prevented hacking since its launch, has been hacked. A hacking kit called “PS Jailbreak” allows copying games to the game console drive and operating them in double speed.

Sony PlayStation 3 game console that was so far the most resistant to hacking has been hacked. Report shows that a hacking kit called “PS Jailbreak” is capable of hacking the console’s encryption in a way that enables copying games onto the hard drive and improving speed.

According to the report, the hacking tools enables a faster operation of the games – twice as fast than operating the from the blue ray player of the console, supports running on official software (“home code”) and updating and upgrading. The use of the kit is very easy and is based on a simple USB connection. After connection is done, directions to install appear. PS Jailbreak does not require installing components. There is no need to deal with the insides of the console – which voids the manufacturers warranty.

Why hasn’t PS3 been hacked so far?

Reports shows that the hacking was designed to work on the 3.41 version as well. The hacking only applies to PS3 games and has been tested on over 150 of them. So far it seems it will work on most of the console’s games.
