How to Set Up a Nintendo DSi Browser

Though not the fastest or most fully featured web browser, the Nintendo DSi offers web surfing straight from its main menu. The browser downloads for free onto your DSi from the Nintendo DSi Shop.

1 Open your Internet connection settings. From the DSi main menu, tap "System Settings." Flip to the third page and select the "Internet" button, then "Connection Settings."

2 To configure your connection, select an empty connection slot. Tap "Search for an Access Point" and choose the connection you wish to use. Enter any security information required and save the settings.

3 From the DSi main menu, open the Nintendo DSi Shop, and wait for the connection to establish.

4 On the Shop home screen, tap "Start Shopping," and then choose "DsiWare."

5 Open the "DSiWare Free" section and scroll through the pages until you find the "Nintendo DSi Browser." Select the browser and click the large blue "Download" button to save the program to your system.

6 Downloaded programs appear on your DSi main menu as a wrapped present. Tap the present to open it and reveal the browser icon. Tap again to open the browser.

7 Web pages appear on both screens. A zoomed out preview fills the top screen, with a closer view on the lower screen. Use the directional pad or drag the stylus to move the view. Tap on links to navigate. Tap in text fields to bring up a touch screen keyboard. Press the vertical arrow button to switch the screens. Change other settings with the "Settings" button on the home screen.

There are some notice you must take attention. Visit the mobile version of websites when possible. The DSi has limited memory and may encounter a memory error and fail to display some websites.
