In addition to adding new game-play elements, the Kinect also offers several new abilities that were previously not available for theXbox 360. For instance, the built-in microphone receives voice commands that allow you to navigate through many of the menus simply by speaking in front of your television. This also enables you to talk to your friends via Xbox Live without the use of a headset. The Kinect’s camera also includes facial recognition technology.

If the camera doesn’t recognize you, a short scan of your face will take place. From that point on, your personal profile will automatically be signed in whenever you are in front of the camera. Add that to the fact that you can video chat with your gamer friends, and you’ve got an impressive display of new technology.
