Fyygame buying guide: PSP or PSPgo

You have a ton of options available to you if you're picking up a new PSP. The PSPgo is $278.51, and it comes with its own set of plusses and minuses (it's more expensive than an older unit and it doesn't support UMD-based games or movies). You can also choose from a number of PSP 3000 bundles for $299.99 which generally come with a game and other bonuses (usually a Memory Stick and perhaps a movie or downloadable game voucher). Or, you can go the most basic route and pick up a PSP 3000 by itself for $269.99.

Our Recommendation
If you're ready to head into the future without looking back (and aren't counting pennies in your bank account), pick up the PSPgo. It's easier to carry around as it's smaller than past units, and its built-in memory can hold a ton of games and movies. However, if you're tight on cash or want to look into buying used games on the cheap, we'd recommend the PSP 3000 bundles. Pick one with the game that interests you the most, like Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, God of War: Ghost of Sparta or Invizimals.

Optional Items Video Output Cable:

If you want to be able to hook your PSP up to your television, this is mandatory.

Wireless Router:
Hopefully you already have one of these because you'll need one to get your PSP online. If you're strictly wired then you can still take advantage of PlayStation Store downloads via either a PlayStation 3 or a PC (Macs aren't supported), though that's an extra step and you won't be able to play anything online.
