Sony Move tops Wii's tech part1

The story of 2010 in video games has been Microsoft and Sony finally making their plays for the motion gaming market Nintendo cornered in 2006 with the Wii. The black wand with the curious rubber orb on the end is capable of much more subtle motion-sensing than the Wiimote, even with its seldom-used MotionPlus attachment. "Sports Champions," Sony’s analogue to "Wii Sports," is by far the best of the Move launch lineup.

Dueling, beach volleyball, table tennis and more make up the game. Nothing quite tops the elegance and addictiveness of Wii bowling, but unlike "Wii Sports" or "Resort," every "Champions" game will beg your attention.

Disc golf has better courses and more nuanced technique than its "Resort" counterpart, archery demands such precision that your arms will feel like they’ve been pulling a real bow, and bocce rivals Wii bowling for accessibility paired with depth. Every game can be learned in less than five minutes, but challenge tiers and local and online multiplayer will tempt anyone to spend much longer with "Sports Champions."

My time with "The Fight: Lights Out" was easily the sweatiest I’ve ever gotten with a video game. This bare-knuckle boxing title is best played with one Move in each hand. The controller’s sensing power is crucial to the game, as nothing less than your snappiest punches will win a fight. Players can bet on matches, customize their pugilist’s abilities and appearance, and heal injuries before taking to the alleyways for the next punch-up.
